Aluminium Recycling

Primary aluminium is produced from bauxite-based alumina using electrolysis. A large amount of electrical power is needed for this process.
Because resources are becoming more limited, and in order to save energy, the raw material can be used again through recycling. The process can be repeated as often as necessary without quality being affected. This is called the production of secondary aluminium.

Twenty tonnes of secondary aluminium can be produced with the same amount of energy that it takes to produce one tonne of primary aluminium.
As a remelting plant, BAGR is therefore making a major contribution to saving energy and protecting our natural resources.
For more information on the subject of aluminium recycling in general, please refer to the internet pages of the Verband der Aluminium-Recyclingindustrie e.V. (VAR, the aluminium recycling industry association) and the Organisation of the European Aluminium Recycling Industry (OEA), what BAGR is a member of.
