Casting

The liquid aluminium is taken in ladles from the melting furnaces to the holding and casting furnaces. Here, the alloying metals are added and gaseous and oxide impurities are removed in a refining process. All furnaces are equipped with porous stones installed in their bottom, through which the melt is permanently purified by a mixture of Argon and Chlorine.

Rolling slabs of high quality are cast from the purified aluminium melt in the semi-continuous casting process. Four slabs are cast per heat.

Recycling thus creates a new product with valuable properties.
